I have had the good fortune to experience first hand both the direct benefits of Larisa Sipek’s practice of Reiki, also in discussions with her, to learn about its history and theory. I have observed shifts if my own level of increased calmness during and after sessions. At this early stage I still have a lot to learn about the mechanisms by which Reiki restores balance between stress and calmness, but one possible pathway, that fits my medical knowledge-base on stress, trauma, PTSD and C-PTSD, could be mediated by Porges’ polyvagal system’s regulation of safety, based on his ‘science of safety. I remain open to learn a lot more, and keep gaining benefits that Reiki might offer.
