Larisa did great at setting a relaxing environment
My experience in receiving Reiki treatments from Larisa has been a positive one. I’ve used the Reiki treatment as a part of a holistic approach to my surgery preparation and recovery. It has helped place me in a positive and a relaxed state of mind to tackle the road that lay ahead.
The practice was well presented, and Larisa did great at setting a relaxing environment.
Reiki alongside medical care
Reiki is offered and discussed as complementary support within a number of respected medical institutions around the world. The Mayo Clinic includes Reiki in its integrative oncology care, offered alongside conventional cancer treatment to support comfort and wellbeing. The Cleveland Clinic offers Reiki through its integrative medicine practitioners, while being clear that it is a complementary therapy - not a replacement for medical care.
That's how I see my own work, too. In my private practice, I've supported people as they prepared for surgery or moved through recovery, offering Reiki as a quiet source of calm alongside the care of their medical team. Never instead of it.
Reiki doesn't treat or cure illness, and I'd never suggest it could. What it can offer is comfort. The experiences shared below are personal accounts, offered in that spirit.
Dr Sheldon Feldman is Chief of Breast Surgery and Surgical Oncology at Montefiore Einstein in New York, and a long-standing advocate for offering Reiki in hospitals alongside medical care. In the short video below, he shares his own observations on the role Reiki practitioners can play in supporting patients around surgery.
