I Know This Road – I’ve Walked It Too

A little of my story, and how I help

This isn’t about fixing yourself. It’s about gently creating space to reconnect with your own natural rhythm and way of being.

My Story

I didn’t know this gentle Japanese practice existed when I needed it most.

For twenty-five years I worked in data science and analytics. I was good at it, quietly reliable, the one who delivered under pressure, through the deadlines and at times long nights and the constant sense of being slightly behind. From the outside it looked like I had it all together. Inside, I’d been quietly empty for a long time, never quite learning where I ended and everyone else’s needs began, in a way I couldn’t fix by working harder, which was the only way I knew how.

Some years ago it caught up with me, and I came to a stop.

I first came across Reiki in a book. I was curious, but cautious, because so much of what I’d seen around it carried a New Age flavour that didn’t sit with me.  I was confused about what this was, so I did what I always do. I went looking for evidence. When I discovered that Reiki was being offered at the Cleveland Clinic to patients and staff members, something shifted. If a respected hospital took it seriously, I thought, perhaps I could too. And then a photo, of someone resting, deeply at peace, stopped me where I sat. I remember thinking, “I want to feel like that.” I’d forgotten I could.

That was enough to make me take a leap of faith. And being who I am, I didn’t simply book a session. I went looking for a teacher I could trust, and when I found that mine had once been a university lecturer, I felt I was in steady, credible hands. So I learned the practice myself, to understand what could bring a person such peace.

What I found became a quiet practice I kept returning to, where I learned stillness, focus, and a compassion for myself I’d never thought to give. It was the gentle self-care my ordinary life had never made room for, and in time, the thing I most wanted to share.

Now I walk beside women who know that always-on life from the inside, often from demanding, analytical careers in tech, data, and roles where you’re measured on output and never quite clock off. and I help them come to themselves and learn boundaries I once had to learn myself. If that’s your world, you and I speak the same language. And if it isn’t, but your plate is simply too full, you are just as welcome here.

What You Can Expect In Our Time Together

Our sessions are shaped around you, and around what you need on the day. Currently held over Zoom, each unhurried hour draws gently on Reiki, HeartMath, breathwork and simple body-based practices, or, for career conversations, on twenty five years spent inside analytics itself. Sometimes that’s quiet conversation. Sometimes it’s spacious stillness. There’s never anything to fix, force, or perform.

What I’ve come to trust, through both my own experience and this work, is something simple. When we feel genuinely safe and supported, something in us begins to settle on its own. What felt overwhelming can start to feel more manageable. Not because the problems vanished, but because you met them from a calmer place.

What You Might Experience

During a wellbeing session, many women describe a feeling of sinking into stillness, the body softening, the breath slowing, the busy mind growing quieter than it has been in a long while. Some drift close to sleep. Others simply feel held. There’s rarely anything dramatic about it. It’s more like remembering a calm you’d forgotten was yours.

There’s no right way to experience it, and nothing you have to make happen. You don’t need to empty your mind, feel a particular thing, or understand how any of it works. Your only task is to receive, which, for women who spend their days giving, can be the most unfamiliar and the most welcome thing of all.

Afterwards, I’ll always suggest you give yourself a little time to rest. Many women notice a growing steadiness over the days that follow, an easier pause, a softer response, a quiet return of trust in themselves. Some feel it straight away. For others, it settles gently, in its own time.

Shall We Begin Together?

Perhaps something in you is drawn to a gentler way of being. One where your wellbeing is protected rather than spent, where being capable doesn’t have to mean being depleted.

I know from my own experience that there is another way. If you’re curious about what an hour of real rest might feel like, I’d love to talk. Sometimes the first step is simply allowing space for something new.

When you’re ready, I’ll be right here.

A gentle note: this work supports your general calm and wellbeing, and sits alongside medical or psychological care — never in place of it. If you have a health condition, or you’re unsure it’s right for you, please check with your doctor first.
